BE AWARE OF YET ANOTHER PHONE SCAM:
Members are receiving phone calls offering to lower their interest rates on their credit cards due to the recent Credit Card act of 2009 signed into law. Please do not ever give your credit card number to anyone over the telephone unless you have initiated the call. Visa would not be calling you on behalf of Priority First FCU. If you have your credit card with Priority First FCU immediately hang up and call Linda at our Brockway office. (814) 265-8421 or 1-800-368-0739. Do not give the caller your account number, the expiration date on your card, your 3 digit security code on the back of the card or any information. If it is truly Priority First FCU calling, we have your information and will not ask you for it.
The Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act (or Credit CARD Act) of 2009 includes the most sweeping changes in how credit cards are marketed, advertised and managed. The law limits when credit card interest rates can be increased on existing balances and allows consumers whose interest rates have been increased to reduce their annual percentage rates (APRs) to previous levels if they have been in good standing and paid their bills on time for six months. The bulk of the consumer protections -- limiting when interest rates can be increased, banning universal default and double-cycle billing, and restricting credit cards for minors, among others -- take effect Feb. 22, 2010.
